Core outcomes
A core outcome set is “an agreed standardised set of outcomes that should be measured and reported, as a minimum, in all clinical trials in specific areas of health or health care.” – COMET
Key references and resources
Core Outcome Measures Effectiveness Trials (COMET) provides resources and materials to support the development and application of agreed standardised sets of outcomes, known as ‘core outcome sets’ (COS).
The Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) is one the first initiatives to develop core outcome sets and is focused on developing core outcome measures in rheumatology. OMERACT strives to improve endpoint outcome measurement through a data driven, iterative consensus process involving relevant stakeholder groups.
